New York-based French artist Fleur Spolidor loves living abroad discovering new cultures. Born in Paris, she spent her childhood visiting castles and museums. After receiving her MFA, she taught art history and fine art at a university and in private design schools. In her "Alice" series of paintings, she mixes the story of Alice in Wonderland with the history of modern metropolises to represent the schizophrenic state of these ever-changing cities. Eco-conscious, Spolidor layers recycled and found materials in her work like papers, plastics and metals. In her painting "Atomic Suburbia," she represents a woman vacuuming artificial turf in front of her house with a nuclear mushroom in the background. Spolidor's palette is bold and colorful, while her subject matters raise awareness on worrisome issues like the never-ending fight for women's rights or climate change.
